Zygotop seminar
We are an informal pedagogical seminar concerning algebraic topology and homotopy theory, localized at Harvard and MIT. Unless otherwise specified, talks will proceed on Wednesdays at 4:30pm ET, located in SC 310, and following a topic chosen by the speaker, organized according to these principles.
This seminar is organized by Keita Allen, who you should email with questions or to be added to the signal group chat. Click here to add this seminar to your google calendar.

A result of Ando-Hopkins-Rezk from 2010 says that the Atiyah-Bott-Shapiro orientation \(MSpin \to KO\) refines uniquely to a map of \(E_\infty\) rings; the key input here is the existence of a certain p-adic measure on \(\mathbb{Z}_p^\times\) using techniques from Iwasawa theory. In this talk, we will discuss the modern Iwasawa-theoretic interpretation of the construction of this measure, and then describe a conjecture of the speaker for a purely homotopy-theoretic construction of this measure. The key issue behind this conjectural picture is understanding a certain limit over transfer maps in THH. Understanding this limit in cyclotomic spectra also seems to be a key input for the speaker's thesis (thus explaining the last part of the title).
